Recently Maggie Gyllenhaal was asked about a line in Taylor Swift’s song All Too Well in which she sings about leaving her scarf ‘at your sister’s house’.
The song is famously about Jake Gyllenhaal and the months he and Taylor spent together in Autumn 2010, and after Andy Cohen asked Maggie about the scarf, she replied: ‘I never understood everybody asked me about this scarf, what is this? I am in the dark about the scarf. It’s totally possible. I don’t know. I have been asked this before!’
Well Maggie, worry no more because of course you’re in the dark about the scarf – as the scarf is actually at Jake’s house and anyone who actually listened to the lyrics knows this because Taylor reveals that information in the next line of the song.
‘I left my scarf there at your sister’s house,
And you still got it in your drawer even now.’
Later in the song, Taylor sings about how Jake sent her things that she had left at his home back to her but that he kept the ‘old scarf from that very first week’ – the same one she was singing about earlier in the song.
‘Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
‘Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can’t get rid of it, ’cause you remember it all too well, yeah’
So dear readers – and Maggie – just in case you were wondering if Maggie needed to go on Hoarding: Buried Alive if she couldn’t remember a random scarf living in her home for seven years, you can rest easy knowing that she gave it back to Jake who is in fact the one we need to be questioning about the scarf.
Namely, does it still remind him of innocence and smell like Taylor?Advertisement
