The rumor mill has been churning nonstop for the past few weeks regarding the upcoming Intel 9th generation processors. While the chip-making conglomerate has refrained from breaking radio silence, confirmation on the alleged refresh of the Coffee Lake series has arrived through a third-party hardware manufacturer.
Posting on its official website earlier today, MSI notified existing and future customers that several of its Z370 gaming motherboards are receiving updates this year to support the new Intel 9th generation processors.
MSI, the world leading gaming motherboard manufacturer, is pleased to announce new BIOS updates for MSI Z370 motherboards to support Intel 9000 processors.
The announcement, which was expected to be made by Intel in the first place, was removed soon after it was published. Thankfully, PC World was quick enough to take a screenshot as evidence and forward the fifteen different motherboard models awaiting the aforementioned support.
Since the cat is out of the bag, Intel may be forced to drop an official word on the upcoming Intel 9th generation processors in the coming days.
The previous round of rumors have already carried enough details for the public. While the rushed announcement from MSI mentioned no release dates, the wording made it sound like that the software update is just around the corner.
It was earlier this week when the entire roadmap was leaked for the Intel 9th generation processors to confirm several facets.
Firstly, the new chips will work just fine with the current 300 series motherboards and owners will not have to worry about any further hardware upgrades. Secondly, the new chips will include a refresh of the Core i9 processors with eight cores that will be clocked at higher rates than before.
Shortly after the roadmap found its way into the public, another roadmap surfaced this week to claim that the Intel 9th generation processors are coming out sooner than expected. They were previously said to be releasing at the end of the year but if recent reports are legitimate, the Intel Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K will enter the market in October.
There is a reason that those loyal to Intel are pretty eager about the performance capabilities of the new series. The 9th generation chips will be the first to feature eight cores in a mainstream consumer lineup from the company. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts since AMD has already been delivering eight cores and sixteen threads for more than a year with Ryzen.
