Taylor Swift has reportedly been left ‘fearing for her reputation’ after being snubbed in all the major categories at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Taylor’s video for her comeback single Look What You Made Me Do failed to win a single nomination, despite being eligible, and now a source close to the singer has claimed that she is worried that her industry feuding has left her out in the cold.
‘She’s been shut out of all of the major categories unfairly despite being eligible to compete in them and this has sparked fears that her decision to spar with Calvin Harris, Katy Perry and Kanye has turned many against her,’ a source told Metro.co.uk.
‘Though Taylor is one of the world’s highest-selling singers she does have a bad reputation among some music circles and there is a feeling that she is no longer considered cool by the audience MTV wants to draw in at the VMAs.
‘Many people feel that the big wigs at the awards ceremony are sending a message; play nice. She’s still going to be on top but moments like these aren’t pleasant.’
The video for Look What You Made Me Do received three nominations in best art direction, visual effects, and best editing, but did not receive any nods for best video nor best pop, and Taylor did not receive any nods for artist of the year.
Taylor’s comeback in 2017 marked her first release in three years after the worldwide success of the 1989 album and tour.
However, during those three years, public feuds with Katy Perry, her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West all served to ensure she remained in the spotlight, even when she took a year off.
She most recently made up with Katy, when the Roar singer sent Taylor a literal olive branch.
Sharing a snap of a package delivered to her dressing room, Taylor revealed that her old frenemy had sent her the age-old symbol for peace alongside a moving note.
