WATERBURY, CT — A Durham School Services school bus driver reportedly was fired this week after he kicked a 5-year-old boy off the bus - two miles from the child's home - after the driver said he couldn't find the student's Waterbury home.
The child was forced to wander the streets for a while on Monday afternoon before a Cheshire police officer spotted him and took him to the Waterbury Police Department where officers notified his parents, reports Fox61 News. The boy is a student at Margaret M. Gnerali Elementary School in Waterbury near Cheshire.
According to district officials, the child wears a special bracelet indicating he is not to be dropped off without a parent present, but the driver ordered him off the bus after the last stop, two miles from the child's home, according to Fox61.
Durham School Services reportedly handles bus responsibilities for the Waterbury district. The bus driver, who reportedly had experience, was a substitute driver on that particular route.
